Farrior and Sons was presented with two awards from Varco Pruden Buildings on July 7, 2010. Farrior’s district manager, Yogi Barwick, presented Bill Farrior, Jr. with a plaque for being a Varco Pruden builder for 40 years. Farrior and Sons became an authorized pre-engineered builder with Varco Pruden in 1969.

Mr. Barwick also presented Bill Farrior, Jr. and Tim Randall with a plaque for achieving a sales volume of $250,000 or more during 2009. Mr. Barwick complimented the Farrior team for achieving such an award despite the slow economy that we are presently in.

The NC Department of Labor held their annual Safety Banquet on Tuesday night, April 6, 2010. Several employees of Farrior & Sons attended the event; Bill Farrior, Jr. and spouse, Scott Fussell and spouse, and Mike Folen.

Farrior & Sons was awarded the “Gold Award” for the second consecutive year. The Gold Award is based on the DART case rate, or cases with days away, restriction, or job transfer. Farrior & Sons has worked six and one half years without a lost-time accident.

The evening began with opening remarks from Susanne Sartelle with the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce. Dinner and dessert were provided by the Hilton. Afterwards, the Commissioner of Labor, Cherie Berry, made remarks about safety and the economy. The evening concluded with the presentation of safety awards to over 75 employers.

FARRIOR & SONS 2009 SAFETY BANQUET

FARMVILLE, N.C. – Congratulations are in order for Farrior & Sons, Inc., and their employees again this year! Employees of the company were honored at the company’s annual Safety and Service Awards Banquet held recently at the Plank Road Steak House in Farmville. A PowerPoint presentation ran throughout the evening displaying projects from the past year.

Farrior & Sons president, Bill Farrior, Jr., delivered remarks regarding the company’s excellent safety program and introduced the Safety Committee Members for 2009, who were Scott Fussell, Mike Folen, Larry Oakley, Jim Ricks and Ronnie Bynum. Mike Folen spoke to the group on safety developments and improvements that the company has experienced over the last fifteen years.

The company has worked over six consecutive years, or 624,678 hours, without a lost-time accident. The last accident was October 13, 2003. This is a tremendous achievement for a general contractor, and it shows that each employee is truly concerned about safety and is watching out for their fellow co-workers.

Employees received certificates and monetary awards in recognition of their outstanding safety records. Employees honored for years of service to the company received certificates and various gifts. Presentations were made by Bill Farrior, Jr., President, and Bobby L. Evans, Vice President.

On December 18th, Farrior & Sons held its yearly Christmas celebration at our offices in Farmville. JD Norville and Clevon Pittman spent a day cleaning up the mechanics shop so that everyone could enjoy some excellent food.

Bill Farrior, Jr. cooked up a big batch of steamed shrimp and steamed oysters.

(You had to be careful not to lose a hand in the Oyster Feeding Frenzy!!!)
